106 Chromatic Rose by Bon Parfumeur is a niche floral, vanilla and powdery eau de parfum, unisex, created by perfumer Caroline Dumur. This perfume was previously called 106 Damask Rose - Davana - Vanilla.
A house where the number indicates the olfactory family
Bon Parfumeur is a Parisian house founded in 2017 by Ludovic Bonneton, a passionate collector who became artistic director. The project was born from two things: his return from Colombia, where he lived surrounded by the scents of cocoa, coffee and tropical flowers, and his meeting with the great perfumer Raymond Chaillan, who showed him that perfume could be described through the five senses rather than through words. Its distinctive feature is its numbering system, which is far from arbitrary: the first digit indicates the olfactory family, while the following two indicate the perfume's position within that family. The creations are designed from the outset to be mixed and layered — the Mix & Match principle. Each fragrance is entrusted to a different perfumer and is born from a precise image brought to the studio by Bonneton. Everything is made in France.
An opening of Damascena rose, pink pepper and ambrette seed
Damascena rose opens immediately, rich and fruity — the flower is present from the very first second. Pink pepper adds a fruity spiciness with hints of mango, while ambrette seed brings a powdery, musky sweetness derived from a plant.
A heart of davana, upcycled rose and papyrus
Davana brings its liqueur-like fruitiness and dark greenness, which contrasts with the silkiness of the flower. The very fresh upcycled rose takes over from the first, while papyrus adds a dry woodiness that prevents the bouquet from becoming too heavy.
A base of vanilla, Peru balsam and sandalwood
The round and addictive vanilla powders the rose, Peru balsam softens it with its balsamic sweetness, and sandalwood closes the fragrance with a milky warmth.
The house's signature
Two roses, at two different stages. This is what makes this perfume: the Damascena rose opens, rich and fruity, then a second rose — upcycled and much fresher — takes over in the heart. The perfumer explains it this way: "Ludovic wanted Damascena rose for its rich and fruity notes, which allowed for a vanilla and balsamic trail without betraying the flower. Paired with an upcycled rose, the rose reigns supreme in the fragrance. Vanilla powders the rose." The second point deserves to be highlighted: the upcycled rose comes from the reuse of materials, an approach that is still rare in fine perfumery — and the perfume contains more than 99% naturally sourced ingredients. The initial inspiration is a ballet, Manon.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Floral, vanilla and powdery, this eau de parfum is for those seeking a full-bodied, fleshy rose rather than a subdued one. It is at its best in the evening, all year round, and can be worn by both women and men.
With 106 Chromatic Rose Bon Parfumeur, Caroline Dumur lets the rose reign supreme over the entire composition.
