Parfumeur | Mylène Alran
603 Cuir Sahib by Bon Parfumeur is a niche leathery, spicy, and amber perfume extract, unisex, created by perfumer Mylène Alran. A memory of Amritsar, in northern India.
A house where the number indicates the fragrance family
Bon Parfumeur is a Parisian house founded in 2017 by Ludovic Bonneton, a passionate collector who became artistic director. The project was born from two things: his return from Colombia, where he lived surrounded by the scents of cocoa, coffee, and tropical flowers, and his meeting with the great perfumer Raymond Chaillan, who showed him that perfume could be described through the five senses rather than through words. Its distinctive feature is its numbering system, which is far from arbitrary: the first digit indicates the fragrance family, while the following two indicate the perfume's rank within that family. The creations are designed from the outset to be mixed and layered — the Mix & Match principle. Everything is made in France. The extracts are distinguished by their gold cap.
An opening of nutmeg, violet leaf, and lemon
Indonesian nutmeg opens warm and woody, Italian lemon brings a bright zest, and violet leaf — green and damp, far removed from the flower — already introduces a facet that hints at leather.
A heart of rockrose, clary sage, incense, and cypress
Spanish rockrose provides its leathery, honeyed resin, clary sage its aromatic quality, incense its resinous smoke, and cypress its coniferous freshness. This is when the fragrance darkens.
A base of tonka bean, leather, cypriol, and cashmere wood
Leather finally arrives, supple rather than harsh. Tonka bean absolute slightly sweetens it, cashmere wood softens it, while cypriol and patchouli bring an earthy quality. The extract is 72% concentration.
The house's signature
Leather is not the subject: it is the envelope. The perfumer summarizes her method in one sentence: "To make a memory of India the envelope of a spicy fragrance." And the house's official image says it even better: sparks of incense in a leather glove. The leather contains the smoke; it does not dominate it — hence its suppleness. The starting point is a specific place and a habit: an address in Amritsar where Ludovic Bonneton returned every morning. It is not a visit, but a daily routine — and the formula reflects this: the scent of burning incense circulates, crosses, and intertwines, held captive within the walls.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Leathery, spicy, and amber, this perfume extract is for those who love leather but prefer it soft and smoky rather than aggressive. It is at its best from autumn to winter, in the evening, and can be worn by both women and men.
With 603 Cuir Sahib Bon Parfumeur, Mylène Alran captures a morning in northern India in a bottle.
