Parfumeur | Corinne Cachen
901 Soir Tonka by Bon Parfumeur is a niche spicy, woody, and vanilla eau de parfum, unisex, created by perfumer Corinne Cachen. This fragrance was previously called 901 Nutmeg - Almond - Patchouli.
A house where the number indicates the olfactory family
Bon Parfumeur is a Parisian house founded in 2017 by Ludovic Bonneton, a passionate collector who became artistic director. The project was born from two things: his return from Colombia, where he lived surrounded by the scents of cocoa, coffee, and tropical flowers, and his meeting with the great perfumer Raymond Chaillan, who showed him that perfume could be described through the five senses rather than through words. Its distinctive feature lies in its numbering, which is far from arbitrary: the first digit indicates the olfactory family, while the next two indicate the fragrance's rank within that family — the 900 series being reserved for those that defy classification. The creations are designed from the outset to be mixed and layered — the Mix & Match principle. Each fragrance is entrusted to a different perfumer and is born from a precise image brought to the studio by Bonneton. Everything is made in France.
An opening of grapefruit, ginger, and almond
Grapefruit opens with a bitter, zesty note, ginger brings its peppery and lemony spiciness, and almond adds a powdery sweetness that already hints at the tonka bean in the base.
A heart of black pepper, blonde wood, and nutmeg
Black pepper brings a cool spiciness, blonde wood its creamy softness, and nutmeg its dry, spicy, and slightly dusty character. This is the heart of the fragrance's character.
A base of patchouli, musk, and tonka bean
Patchouli brings its damp undergrowth note, musk its cottony sweetness, and tonka bean — vanilla, powdery, and almond-like — closes the composition with warm opulence.
The house's signature
This is Ludovic Bonneton's very first fragrance — and it didn't fit into any category. He describes it plainly: "The genesis of my perfumery, the first fragrance I created and the first unclassifiable fragrance in the collection. Because no olfactory family would claim it, I kept it as my signature fragrance for six months." In other words: this fragrance is the reason for the 900 series, the series for those that defy classification — the category created for those that had no place. The perfumer describes the intention: a fragrance with a woody, warm, and opulent character, where zesty citrus notes blend with the creaminess of blonde wood. The official image is that of an autumn evening in Paris — a velvet sofa, a fireplace, and soft, golden light.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Spicy, woody, and vanilla, this eau de parfum is for those seeking a warm, spicy woody fragrance that is difficult to categorize. It is at its best from autumn through winter, in the evening, and can be worn by both women and men.
With 901 Soir Tonka Bon Parfumeur, it all began.
