Parfumeur | Karine Dubreuil-Sereni
902 Hazy Spice by Bon Parfumeur is a niche spicy, woody, and vanilla eau de parfum, unisex, created by perfumer Karine Dubreuil-Sereni. This perfume was previously called 902 Armagnac - Blonde Tobacco - Cinnamon.
A house where the number indicates the olfactory family
Bon Parfumeur is a Parisian house founded in 2017 by Ludovic Bonneton, a passionate collector who became artistic director. The project was born from two things: his return from Colombia, where he lived surrounded by the scents of cocoa, coffee, and tropical flowers, and his meeting with the great perfumer Raymond Chaillan, who showed him that perfume could be described through the five senses rather than through words. Its distinctive feature is its numbering system, which is far from arbitrary: the first digit indicates the olfactory family, the next two indicate the perfume's rank within that family — with the 900 series reserved for those that defy classification. The creations are designed from the outset to be mixed and layered — the Mix & Match principle. Everything is made in France.
An opening of orange, ginger, and armagnac
Orange opens with a juicy, zesty freshness, ginger brings its spicy citrus note, and armagnac — sweet, woody, with hints of dried fruit — immediately brings the alcohol to the forefront.
A heart of cinnamon, clove, and geranium
Cinnamon brings its warm apple pie note, clove its gingerbread accents, and geranium a rosy, minty facet that prevents the composition from becoming too heavy. It is a whirlwind of spices.
A base of labdanum, vanilla, and blonde tobacco
Labdanum establishes its leathery, woody resin, vanilla softens it, and blonde tobacco — woody, honeyed, with the scent of dried leaves — closes the composition with a wisp of smoke.
The house's signature approach
A perfume born from a poker game and a painting brought to the studio. Bonneton tells the story: "A perfume born in my mind while I was playing poker with friends. The whirlwind of spices was born from the tensions around the table. And the tobacco that surrounded them." And the perfumer explains how the brief arrived: "Ludovic came to the studio with the image of Caravaggio's "The Cardsharps"." An image, not a list of notes — that is the house's method. A detail worth noting: the alcohol used is indeed an armagnac, not a cognac. Two neighboring but distinct eaux-de-vie: armagnac, distilled only once in Gascony, retains more dried fruit and wood — exactly what the formula seeks.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Spicy, woody, and vanilla, this eau de parfum is for those who love tobacco and brown spirits in perfume. It gives its best from autumn to winter, in the evening, and is equally well suited to both women and men.
With 902 Hazy Spice Bon Parfumeur, Karine Dubreuil-Sereni captures the tensions of a gaming table in a bottle.
