Perfume as a narrative

Epicò Parfum is an Italian house founded in 2018 by Federico Gucciardi, an artist born in Bologna and recognized as "the poet of perfume". The name says it all: Epicò means "story". Each fragrance is born from a story that Federico writes himself — pages of emotions, dreams and memories that he then translates into accords, into "liquid verses" — and each perfume is accompanied by this short text, which reveals the soul of the fragrance. "Every drop is a word," he says, "every perfume is a chapter of our story." After years of artistic studies and a career in the great Italian beauty houses, he now composes with Fabio Bernardi and Giulia Brigliadori. The black bottle bears a handmade antique copper label made by artisans, which makes each piece slightly different. 100 ml bottle.

An opening of cardamom, coffee and Chinese star anise

The cardamom opens camphoric, the coffee brings its roasted bitterness. The Chinese star anise, the dried fruits and the davana establish a candied flesh.

A heart of jasmine, milk and rose

The jasmine and the rose unfold an ample floral, the angelica and the muguet lighten it. And the milk slips in, where no one expects it.

A base of Tolu balsam, myrrh and fir

The Tolu balsam brings its vanilla resin, the amber and the myrrh the balsamic warmth. The fir and the musk close the composition.

The house's signature touch

A MILK accord in the middle of the flowers, and a FIR in an oriental. The milk in the heart gives the roundness that is missing from most spicy orientals; the fir in the base, resinous and cold, prevents the amber and the myrrh from becoming suffocating. Two counterpoints in a composition that could have been only warm — and that is what makes it wearable beyond the only oriental register.
