Kohl, modesty, and two men from the world of luxury

Kajal Perfumes Paris was founded in 2012 by Moe Khalaf and Ibrahim Faris, and its first fragrance was released in 2014. Both come from the world of luxury: Ibrahim Faris started at nineteen in Jordan before becoming brand manager of the Al Tayer Group in Dubai; Moe Khalaf spent ten years at YSL Beauté, eventually heading the Saudi market, and later served as Middle East Regional Director at Estée Lauder. The name says it all: kajal refers to kohl in Indian culture and comes from the Arabic word khajal, meaning modesty. The house is based in Dubai, but its fragrances are mainly composed in France. Lamar belongs to the GOLD collection.

An opening of pineapple, apple, and cardamom

Pineapple, red fruits, and apple open with a crisp, juicy fruitiness. Cardamom and coriander arrive immediately: two green spices that prevent the opening from turning into nectar.

A heart of Bulgarian rose and Turkish rose

Bulgarian rose and Turkish rose share the heart: the former fresher and honeyed, the latter spicier and jammy. Jasmine sambac and magnolia surround them with white flowers.

A base of vanilla and cashmere wood

Vanilla and amber establish the warmth, while musk provides longevity. Cashmere wood and cedarwood bring a woody dryness that balances the sweetness of the opening.

The house's signature touch

Two roses from different terroirs, placed side by side. This is a rare sourcing choice: most rose fragrances settle for a single origin, often Bulgaria. By bringing together Bulgaria and Turkey, Mark Buxton—whose eponymous house we also distribute—achieves a broader flower than either could produce alone. The name reflects the intention: Lamar means liquid gold in Arabic, and the composition was inspired by a golden sunset.
