Ambre Agrumes by NÛR is an oriental amber citrus perfume elixir, unisex, created by Jean-Bernard Albani. It is not an alcohol-based perfume but an ultra-concentrated oil — which explains the 3 ml size.

Elixirs conceived as materials

NÛR is a French artisanal haute parfumerie house that produces neither eau de parfums nor classic alcohol-based extracts, but elixirs: concentrated oils, in the tradition of attars. It defines them as materials rather than compositions — deep vanillas, milky sandalwood, resinous ambers, roasted tonka bean, vibrant roses, musks, dark ouds. The name of an elixir announces its material, and often its origin: never an imaginary place or an emotion. Its co-founder Jean-Bernard Albani, a self-taught perfumer, states that he shapes each maceration by hand and personally selects each raw material.

The materials

Five materials, divided into two opposing camps. The amber accords, myrrh resin and opoponax resin form the foundation: a base that the house describes as balsamic, resinous and warm. Facing them, two Mediterranean citrus fruits, sweet orange essential oil and Sicilian lemon, arrive as a zesty counterpoint. This is where the perfume is played out: the coldness of the peels placed on the warmth of the resins.

The house's signature

Ambre Agrumes shares its resinous foundation with Ambre Mysore, the house's other amber: the same myrrh and opoponax resins, the same refusal of sweetness. But where Mysore delves into the woods — patchouli, sandalwood, bay leaf — this one takes the opposite direction and opens up to the peels. The signature lies in this reversal: the same dark base, illuminated instead of being deepened. The house even gives two opposite uses for it in layering — on a citrus fragrance it extends the longevity, on an oriental fragrance it softens the resinous richness.

For whom, how to wear it?

An elixir is not sprayed: it is applied in touches, in the hollow of the wrist, behind the ear, at the base of the neck. One drop is enough. Without alcohol to project it, the perfume remains close to the skin: you do not smell it enter a room, you discover it as you approach. It is a day and evening elixir, wearable in any season.
