Parfumeur | Suzy Le Helley
Anela by Paradis des Sens is a floral amber musk eau de parfum, unisex, created by Suzy Le Helley. Its base features two musks of opposing natures: a musk and an ambrette.
A house that composes moods rather than landscapes
Paradis des Sens composes its fragrances like wearable sensory moods. The house puts it this way: perfume is the fastest way to change the way life is felt. It describes its creations not through places or stories, but through sensations — a fresh burst, soft warmth, lingering presence, velvety smoke — and summarizes its method in one sentence: choose your mood, wear it, let it last. The collection is organized into five lines: Universal Sensations for everyday wear, Awakening Sensations for vibrant freshness, Forbidden Sensations for the deepest compositions, Golden Sensations for resinous warmth, and The Overdrive for the most concentrated extracts. The formulas are entrusted to independent perfumers: Marzia Tissino, Guillaume Cresp, Suzy Le Helley, Philippine Courtière, Pierre-Constantin Guéros and Sébastien Martin.
An opening of saffron, blackcurrant and pink pepper
The saffron opens with its leathery, slightly metallic, cut hay facet. The blackcurrant brings a dark, tart, and budding fruitiness, while the pink pepper adds its sparkling resinousness. The house describes this opening as a burst of clear light.
A heart of iris root, incense and lily of the valley
The iris root brings its cool, earthy powderiness, while the incense adds its dry, peppery gum — it is what gives the fragrance its slightly smoky edge, which the house highlights. The lily of the valley adds an aqueous greenness that prevents the overall composition from becoming too heavy.
A base of Bourbon vanilla, musk and ambrette
The Bourbon vanilla, named for its origin, brings a rich sweetness. The musk creates a skin effect, while the ambrette — the seed of the musk mallow — adds a vegetal, powdery, and slightly fruity musk. The house speaks of a luminous veil.
The house's signature touch
Ambrette is the only musk of plant origin used in perfumery: its seed contains a molecule similar to those of animal musks, but its scent is drier, more powdery, and slightly fruity. Placing it next to a classic musk is like layering two skin effects of different natures — one cottony, the other vegetal — and this is what gives the dry-down its particular texture, closer to the grain of the skin than to perfume.
For whom, and for what occasions?
For those who love powdery ambers and are looking for a discreet incense rather than a heavy resin. It is an all-season fragrance, wearable day or night, with good longevity and a measured sillage. Anela Paradis des Sens will appeal to those who want light with a touch of smoke.
