Azur by Nysos is a woody chypre citrus eau de parfum, unisex, created by Benjamin Bélizon. It is the only fragrance from the house to claim a chypre structure, with oakmoss in its base.

A house that changes perfumers with each creation

Nysos is a Parisian house with an unusual compositional approach: it entrusts almost every creation to a different perfumer. Ten fragrances, eight noses — only Olivier Cresp and Benjamin Bélizon have created two each — and you will find signatures that you would normally encounter at the great houses. Its eaux de parfum are presented in 80 ml, its extraits in 50 ml.

An opening of bergamot, lemon and grapefruit

Three citrus fruits and a spice. Bergamot, lemon and grapefruit provide a crisp and tangy start, while pink pepper adds its peppery touch. It is a clean, unsweetened opening that heralds a daytime fragrance.

A heart of iris, ginger and lavender

The heart is more unexpected. Iris provides its cool, rooty powder, ginger a spicy warmth, lavender its aromatic and camphorous side, and jasmine a flower to tie it all together. Four materials that do not belong to the same register, and that is what gives the fragrance its depth.

A base of oakmoss, sandalwood and cashmere wood

It is the oakmoss that makes the difference: it brings that green and damp bitterness that defines the chypre family. Sandalwood, cashmere wood, cedarwood and musk surround it with a soft woody structure.

The house's signature

A chypre traditionally combines a citrus top note with an oakmoss base note, and that is exactly what Azur recreates: bergamot at the start, moss at the end. But the heart twists the classic formula by placing ginger and lavender where you would expect a rose or patchouli. It is a contemporary chypre, lighter and drier than its predecessors — and the only one of the house's ten fragrance profiles to declare the chypre family.
