A 1942 recipe book, reopened in 2016

It all began in 1942 in Bibbiena, a medieval village in Tuscany's Casentino Valley. Giovan Piero and Emma Ducci opened a fragrance and ointment bottega there, with Giovan Piero formulating the products using his experience as the village pharmacist—and his recipe book is still kept by the family. In the late 1960s, their daughter Irma turned it into a prestigious perfumery that still exists today. It was in 2016 that Silvia Martinelli reopened these notebooks to create the brand. Drawing on more than fifty years of experience—including working in sales and fragrance consultation for Chanel and Dior—and her training at the schools of Grasse, she composes the fragrance by hand in the family laboratory. Four generations of Tuscan perfumers, a commitment to eco-luxury, and a presence in more than forty countries.

A caramel opening

Caramel opens the composition all by itself. It arrives cooked and buttery, without citrus or spice to announce it: the fragrance immediately gets straight to the point, which is what makes it recognizable from the very first second.

A heart of honey and coumarin

Honey adds thickness and roundness. Coumarin—a molecule with the scent of cut hay and almond, originally extracted from tonka beans—brings a subtle dryness that balances the sweetness.
