The perfumer takes center stage

Essential Parfums is a Paris-based house founded in 2018 by Géraldine Archambault, which turns the usual logic on its head: the perfumer's name is on the bottle, and the creation takes precedence over the packaging. Its philosophy can be summed up in one sentence: "simplicity as the ultimate luxury" — and it also applies to this skincare line, designed with the same understated packaging as the fragrances.

The ingredients

The soap captures the fragrance's signature: Timut pepper — the Nepalese berry with grapefruit facets — and Thai basil upon application, then akigalawood and vetiver, and finally patchouli and ambroxan, which linger after rinsing. Akigalawood is the standout ingredient here: obtained through biotechnology, via the enzymatic fermentation of patchouli, it is a scent that did not exist before its creation.

The house's approach

Extend the fragrance without layering it. A scented soap of this quality prepares the skin rather than competing with the eau de parfum: the same ingredients, in a more discreet register, which fade into the background to make way for the sillage when you spray it afterwards.
