Edo Park by Cherigan is a niche woody, floral and fresh perfume extract, unisex, with 90% natural ingredients. Edo is the former name of Tokyo: the perfume evokes its gardens.
A house from 1929 risen from the dead
Cherigan was founded in 1929, at 120 avenue des Champs-Élysées. Its name already tells of its era: chéri and gant, back when people still perfumed the skin of their gloves. The house opened a boutique in Havana, won over movie stars, created about fifteen fragrances—including a Chance long before Chanel, in a horseshoe-shaped bottle—then disappeared around 1966. Luc Gabriel, CEO of The Different Company, rediscovered it in 2016 in the perfume archives, bought back the name and relaunched the house in 2021, in the spirit of Roaring Twenties Art Deco. The catalog is divided into two ranges: The Iconic, reconstructed original formulas, and Inspirations, new creations born from the spirit of the era. Everything is an perfume extract, with between 90 and 99% natural ingredients, in 100 ml and 15 ml sizes.
An opening of citrus and Siberian pine
Citrus briefly illuminates the opening, immediately overtaken by Siberian pine—a frank, resinous, almost icy conifer that perfumery rarely uses in the top notes.
A heart of osmanthus and freesia
Osmanthus extract settles in: an Asian flower with apricot and leather facets, one of the most expensive materials in the palette. Freesia illuminates it with a floral and slightly peppery transparency.
A base of amber woods and Virginian cedar
Amber woods establish a dry warmth, Virginian cedar its sharpened pencil facet. The trail remains clear and vegetal until the end.
The house's signature
Osmanthus is the flower that smells of apricot and leather. The house makes it the central material of the composition—it is the only one capable of standing up to a Siberian pine. Because that is the real challenge: a conifer in the top note, frank and almost icy, where perfumery usually places citrus. The subject justifies it—the house speaks of Europe's olfactory image of Japan, that of prints where immense silent landscapes stretch out. The result is a green and dry woody fragrance, without a hint of sweetness.
For whom, for what occasions?
Woody, floral and fresh, this extract is for those who love green woody fragrances and forest perfumes. It gives its best from spring to autumn, during the day, worn equally well by women and men. The 15 ml size has an applicator cap, without a spray: application is done drop by drop, and the bottle is refilled each time it is closed.
With Edo Park Cherigan, the house places a Siberian conifer in a Tokyo garden.
