Fiesta Habana by Cherigan is a niche perfume extract that is spicy, liqueur-like, and tobacco-scented, designed for both men and women. Its subject is not an exotic setting: it is the story of the house itself.
A house from 1929 risen from the dead
Cherigan was founded in 1929 at 120 avenue des Champs-Élysées. Its name already reflects its era: chéri and gant, back when gloves were still perfumed. The house opened a boutique in Havana, won over film stars, created about fifteen fragrances—including a Chance long before Chanel, in a horseshoe-shaped bottle—and then disappeared around 1966. Luc Gabriel, CEO of The Different Company, rediscovered it in 2016 in the perfume archives, bought back the name, and relaunched the house in 2021, in the spirit of Roaring Twenties Art Deco. The catalog is divided into two ranges: The Iconic, reconstructed original formulas, and Inspirations, new creations born from the spirit of the era. 100 ml bottle.
An opening of rum, elemi, balsam of Tolu, and pallida iris
Rum opens from the very first second, warm and boozy. Elemi, a resin that is both lemony and peppery, illuminates it; balsam of Tolu brings its vanilla and cinnamon resin, and pallida iris—the most sought-after variety of this root—an unexpected cool powder.
A heart of immortelle, sandalwood, and tobacco
Immortelle establishes its accents of curry, hay, and dried honey. Sandalwood rounds it out with creaminess, and tobacco brings its leaf and dust.
A base of cedar and musk
Cedar provides a dry and resinous structure, while musk softens the trail and settles it on the skin. Only two materials, for a sillage that lasts a long time.
The house's approach
The title is not an exotic setting: it is true history. As early as the 1930s, Cherigan had opened a boutique in Havana and met with great success there among film personalities, in the era of casino nights and big bands. This perfume is therefore a return to its own footsteps, not a Cuban postcard bought off the shelf—hence the rum placed from the very first second rather than in the base, like entering a place. And hence the immortelle, this maquis flower with accents of curry and honey, which gives the tobacco its patina: it is not fresh tobacco, it is tobacco that has lived.
For whom, for what occasions?
Spicy, liqueur-like, and tobacco-scented, this extract is for those who love tobacco and boozy accords. It gives its best from autumn to winter, in the evening, worn equally well by women and men.
With Fiesta Habana Cherigan, the house returns to the city where it had its boutique.
