Lovers in Pink by Cherigan is a floral, fresh, musky, unisex niche perfume extract—a rosy, sparkling bouquet, a tribute to Marc Chagall and Bella.
A 1929 house risen from the dead
Cherigan was founded in 1929 at 120 avenue des Champs-Élysées. Its name already speaks of its era: chéri and gant, back when gloves were still perfumed. The house opened a boutique in Havana, won over film stars, created about fifteen fragrances—including a Chance long before Chanel, in a horseshoe-shaped bottle—then disappeared around 1966. Luc Gabriel, CEO of The Different Company, rediscovered it in 2016 in the perfume archives, bought back the name, and relaunched the house in 2021, in the spirit of Roaring Twenties Art Deco. The catalog is divided into two ranges: The Iconic, reconstructed original formulas, and Inspirations, new creations born from the spirit of the era. Everything is an perfume extract, with between 90 and 99% natural ingredients, in 100 ml and 15 ml sizes.
An opening of Madagascar ginger, citrus, and blackcurrant bud
Madagascar ginger opens spicy and fresh, the citrus adds brightness, and the blackcurrant bud—a green, sulfurous, almost tart ingredient—brings a bite that is surprising in a floral.
A heart of jasmine absolute, rose, and peony
Jasmine absolute brings its creamy whiteness, rose its honeyed fullness, and peony a transparent, watery floral note. The bouquet opens up fully.
A base of cedar and musks
Cedar provides a dry structure, while the musks add a clean, skin-like softness. The trail remains clear and close to the body.
The house's signature touch
Ginger is the detail that keeps this rose from being too polite. Placed at the top with blackcurrant bud—a green, sulfurous, almost tart ingredient—it gives the bouquet a bite that neither peony nor jasmine absolute softens. This is what sets this fragrance apart from the dozens of powdery roses on the market: the flower is luminous but never sweet. The wearer calls the shots. Chagall's figures float; they do not pose—the painter depicted himself and his wife Bella suspended above the rooftops, and a too-polite floral would have lacked this lightness.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Floral, fresh, and musky, this extract is for those seeking a luminous, easy-to-wear rose, far removed from powdery florals. It is at its best from spring through summer, during the day, and is equally suited to both women and men. The 15 ml size has an applicator cap rather than a spray: it is applied drop by drop, and the bottle is refilled each time it is closed.
With Lovers in Pink Cherigan, the house gives a rose the lightness of Chagall's paintings.
