Genderless perfumery, all in extract

New Notes is an Italian house published by HIC BEAUTY, in San Giuliano Milanese, on the outskirts of Milan. It defines itself as “a new generation of perfume extracts that transcends the codes of perfumery and breaks down the boundaries of role and gender,” and it applies the formula to the letter: its entire catalog is in perfume extract, without a single eau de parfum. The house does not credit any nose on its bottles.

An opening of passion fruit, blackcurrant, and pear

Five fruits at once, and the name of the perfume does not lie. The passion fruit dominates, acidic and slightly sulfurous, the blackcurrant brings its green nervosity, the pear its juicy flesh, the strawberry its sweetness, and the lemon the sharp stroke that holds the whole together. It's a glass, not a basket.

A heart of cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger

This is where the perfume becomes interesting. The cinnamon, the cardamom, the pink pepper, and the ginger arrive together and completely change the direction: the fruit warms up instead of softening. The jasmine and the rose move to the back to round the edges.

A base of vanilla, patchouli, and cedarwood

The fall is long and comfortable. The vanilla and the amber bring the warmth, the lactonic notes that creamy side that recalls the coconut milk of cocktails, the white musk the skin effect. The patchouli and the cedarwood prevent the gourmand from turning into syrup.

Most fruities in this family chain fruits and flowers until the sweet base. Cocktail Maracuja does something else: it places four spices at the very heart of its cocktail, which breaks the expected trajectory and gives the perfume its signature. It belongs to the Contemporary Blend and it is one of the only three references that the house publishes in 100 ml.
