Divine Vanille by Essential Parfums is an amber, vanilla and spicy niche eau de parfum, unisex, created by Olivier Pescheux.

The perfumer at the forefront

Essential Parfums is a Parisian house founded in 2018 by Géraldine Archambault, which overturns the usual logic: the perfumer's name is on the bottle, and the creation takes precedence over the packaging. Its approach can be summed up in one sentence: "simplicity as the ultimate luxury". To each nose, the house gives the same brief: create a unisex fragrance around an inspiring natural raw material, with complete creative freedom. Ten perfumers have responded, including Calice Becker, Anne Flipo, Nathalie Lorson, Quentin Bisch, Fabrice Pellegrin, Sophie Labbé and Olivier Pescheux. By limiting packaging and marketing expenses, the house reinvests in the material: its formulas contain between 86 and 93% ingredients of natural origin and are vegan. Refillable 100 ml bottle.

An opening of clary sage, cinnamon and black pepper

The clary sage opens with an herbal and slightly musky note, the cinnamon brings its dry warmth and the black pepper its bite. No sweetness at the start.

A heart of osmanthus, incense and pomarose

The osmanthus unfolds — apricot, leather and blonde tobacco all at once. The incense brings its resinous smoke and the pomarose a candied rose facet.

A base of Madagascar vanilla, tonka bean and Siam benzoin

The Madagascar vanilla finally unfolds, the tonka bean and the Siam benzoin envelop it. The cedar, the patchouli and the musk establish the trail.

The house's signature

Osmanthus BEFORE vanilla. This Asian flower with facets of apricot, leather and blonde tobacco is what makes the composition mature: it brings the candied and leathery notes that the pod alone does not have. The incense next to it adds a smoky gravity. And the opening concedes nothing: sage, cinnamon and black pepper, no sweetness before the base. Vanilla is here the inspiring material of the brief, treated as a noble material and not as sugar.
