Parfumeur | Dmitry Bortnikov
Dubai by Bortnikoff is a fruity, oriental, and leathery niche perfume extract, unisex, created by Dmitry Bortnikov. Created in 2024, it is a homage to the city where it was presented.
A Thai house where the founder is also the perfumer
Bortnikoff is based in Thailand, in the heart of the agarwood-producing regions. It was founded by Dmitry Bortnikov, a Russian perfumer who is both the owner and the nose of his brand, and who works with wild Thai ouds, sourcing his materials at the source. The catalog is divided into four lines: Entry Level, Main Collection, Colognes and Attars. 50 ml bottle.
An opening of apple, davana, and three citrus fruits
The apple opens crisp and sweet, surrounded by bergamot, lemon, and grapefruit. Ginger brings its spicy warmth, and davana — an Indian herb with the scent of macerated fruits and wine — an unexpected herbal depth.
A heart of fruits, flowers, and balm
Passion fruit and peach bring a juicy and velvety flesh. Jasmine, rose, and ylang-ylang form a full bouquet, while the resinous cardamom and gurjun balsam prevent them from becoming too sweet.
A base of nine dark materials
Hindi oud and nagarmotha establish the smoke, leather an audacious edge, sandalwood and vanilla the creaminess. Amber and musk deepen, vetiver and patchouli anchor the trail in the earth.
The house's signature
A fragrance created to enter a market. Dubai is not a free evocation: it was composed especially for the house's arrival in the Gulf and unveiled at Beautyworld Middle East, in Dubai, in 2024 — the trade show where the house will also launch, the following year, its Entry Level collection. Hence its construction, which reconciles two tastes: the fruity freshness expected in the West and the depth of Hindi oud expected in the Middle East. The fruit does not stop at the top, either — it also goes through the heart with passion fruit and peach, which gives the wood time to rise without interruption. Twenty-two materials in total, including nine for the base alone.
For whom, for what occasions?
Fruity, oriental, and leathery, this extract is for those who want an oud carried by fruit rather than resin. It can be worn all year round, by day or by night, by both women and men.
With Dubai Bortnikoff, Dmitry Bortnikov composes a fruity oud for the city that welcomed it.
