An imaginary heroine, a house founded by a female perfumer

Ella K was born in Paris in 2017, created by the perfumer Sonia Constant with her husband, himself a specialist in raw material sourcing. Very few perfume houses are created by female perfumers: Ella K is an exception. "Ella K" is an imaginary heroine, inspired by three explorers from another century: Ella Maillart — from whom Sonia Constant says she borrowed her first name —, Karen Blixen and Alexandra David-Néel. Each perfume is the olfactory memory of a moment lived somewhere in the world, and rests on an iconic ingredient, a symbol of the destination, surrounded by rare naturals and high-quality synthetic molecules. Trained at the ISIPCA and then at Givaudan, where she still works, Sonia Constant signed Guerlain L'Abeille, Montblanc Emblem, Balmain Extatic and Burberry Sport. 100 ml bottle.

An opening of nougat, neroli and saffron

The nougat opens sweet and almond-like, the neroli brings its green and honeyed clarity. The saffron already establishes a leathery facet that announces what follows.

A heart of imperial jasmine sambac, hawthorn and roasted barley

The imperial jasmine sambac brings a creamy whiteness, the hawthorn its almond-like flower. Then the roasted barley arrives, dry and grilled.

A base of leather, tonka bean and honey

The leather settles in, tanned and supple. The tonka bean and the honey bring a rich sweetness that never masks the leathery edge.

Roasted barley in the middle of a gourmand. It is a brewing material, dry and grilled, almost bitter — and it is what prevents the nougat and honey from becoming a confectionary. Sonia Constant makes a pastry and a leather jacket fit in the same bottle, and it is this grilled note that makes the operation possible. Without it, the perfume would tip into dessert from the first hour.
