Harmattan by Ella K is a niche woody, spicy and fresh eau de parfum, unisex, created by Sonia Constant. The harmattan is the wind that blows across the Sahara towards the Gulf of Guinea: freezing at night, scorching by day.

An imaginary heroine, a house founded by a female perfumer

Ella K was born in Paris in 2017, created by perfumer Sonia Constant with her husband, himself a specialist in raw material sourcing. Very few perfume houses are created by female perfumers: Ella K is an exception. “Ella K” is an imaginary heroine, inspired by three explorers from another century: Ella Maillart — from whom Sonia Constant says she borrowed her first name —, Karen Blixen and Alexandra David-Néel. Each perfume is the olfactory memory of a moment lived somewhere in the world, and is based on an iconic ingredient, a symbol of the destination, surrounded by rare naturals and high-quality synthetic molecules. Trained at the ISIPCA and then at Givaudan, where she still works, Sonia Constant has signed Guerlain L'Abeille, Montblanc Emblem, Balmain Extatic and Burberry Sport. 100 ml bottle.

The cedar leaf opens green and camphoraceous, the bergamot brings its bright zest and the lavender its aromatic freshness. A cold gust.

The geranium brings its green and rosy facet, the pink pepper a lively spice. The ambroxan begins to establish the mineral warmth.

A base of leather, patchouli and vetiver

The cedar leaf, not the wood. The nuance changes everything: the leaf is green, camphoraceous, almost medicinal, where the wood is dry and warm. It is what gives the cold gust of the start, before ambroxan and leather establish the warmth of the day — exactly what the wind that gives the perfume its name does, freezing at night and scorching by day. The construction embraces the subject: here, the iconic ingredient is not a scent of a place but a movement of air.
