An imaginary heroine, a house founded by a female perfumer

Ella K was born in Paris in 2017, created by perfumer Sonia Constant with her husband, himself a specialist in raw material sourcing. Very few perfume houses are created by female perfumers: Ella K is an exception. “Ella K” is an imaginary heroine, inspired by three explorers from another century: Ella Maillart — from whom Sonia Constant says she borrowed her first name —, Karen Blixen and Alexandra David-Néel. Each perfume is the olfactory memory of a moment lived somewhere in the world, and rests on an iconic ingredient, a symbol of the destination — here, myrrh. Trained at the ISIPCA and then at Givaudan, where she still works, Sonia Constant created Guerlain L'Abeille, Montblanc Emblem, Balmain Extatic and Burberry Sport. 100 ml bottle.

An opening of pomegranate, rose and frangipani

The pomegranate opens tart and red, the orange brightens it. The rose, the jasmine and the frangipani establish a full-bodied floral from the start.

A heart of almond, sesame, date and cane sugar

The almond brings its milky sweetness, the date its candied flesh, the cane sugar raw sugar. And the sesame, roasted and slightly bitter, holds the whole together.

A base of myrrh, vanilla and tonka bean

The myrrh brings its bitter and smoky resin, the vanilla and the tonka bean a round sweetness, the cedar a woody dryness.

The house's signature

Sesame in the heart note. It is a culinary ingredient, roasted and slightly bitter, that you practically never encounter in perfumery — and it is this, with the date and the almond, that composes a real oriental pastry rather than a generic gourmand. Then the myrrh — the ingredient that gives the perfume its name — closes on a bitter and smoky resin. The dessert and the resin in the same bottle, and it is the latter that has the last word.
