Escapade Gourmande by Maison Mataha is a gourmand amber vanilla extrait de parfum, unisex, created by Vincent Ricord. It is the house's founding creation.

A couple, an obsession: the perfect vanilla

Maison Mataha was founded in 2020 by a Parisian couple, perfume enthusiasts and collectors, "for whom longevity, sillage and the quality of the juice are essential". It was born from a precise obsession, as the founders themselves describe it: "Nothing could satisfy our quest for the perfect vanilla: an intense, dark vanilla, with the captivating aroma of crème brûlée. Disappointed by the existing range, we decided, together as a couple, to create it ourselves." It took one year of work, with the support of CPL Aromas and master perfumer Vincent Ricord. The juices are concentrated to 35% and contain no added coloring, French, vegan and cruelty-free. The credo: "a perfume must be both nostalgic and addictive to awaken emotions — and it is through these emotions that memories are born". The house has seven creations: the founding one in 2020, five between 2024 and 2025, and then its Grand Cru reinterpretation in 2026.

An opening of brown sugar, alone

Brown sugar opens the composition alone: unrefined brown sugar, with its hint of molasses. No citrus, no green note — we go straight into cooked sugar.

A heart of vanilla and tonka bean

Vanilla holds the heart. It is what the house spent a year searching for, and here it is crafted towards crème brûlée rather than the pod. The tonka bean accompanies it, bringing almond and a coumarin bitterness.

A base of benzoin and musk

Benzoin establishes the resinous balsamic that gives vanilla its depth, the musk ensures longevity on the skin.

The house's signature

Only five ingredients, at 35% concentration. This is the house's exact approach: no stacking, brown sugar to open, vanilla at the center, benzoin to hold. And above all, this perfume was the house's only one for three years — released in 2020, it took until 2024 for a second one to join it. The rest of the catalog stems from it, and it is the one that directly carries the founding obsession — to the point that the house reinterpreted it in 2026 in a Grand Cru version. At this concentration, one spray is more than enough.
