Parfumeur | Michał Gilbert Lach
Eucalyptus Patchouli by Bohoboco is a niche woody, aromatic and spicy eau de parfum, unisex, created by Michał Gilbert Lach. Two ingredients in the name, two worlds in the bottle.
A house that names its fragrances after their ingredients
Bohoboco is a Polish house based in Warsaw. It was founded in 2009 as a fashion brand by designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. A first fragrance was released in 2012, before the collection was launched in 2016 — a project in which Lach, having worked in hairdressing, makeup and then fashion design, says he found his true calling. The house's signature lies in its naming convention: each fragrance simply bears the name of two or three of its ingredients, without a story or character. Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Wild Carrot Oud — and even provocative names like Magic Mushrooms or Polish Potatoes. The first compositions were created in Grasse, and the house has been awarded by the Fragrance Foundation UK, Vogue Beauty and Elle Style. Everything is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum, unisex.
An opening of cardamom, pink pepper and eucalyptus
Cardamom and pink pepper open with spice, but it is eucalyptus that dominates: camphoraceous, sharp, almost medicinal. The effect is immediate — a sensation of freshness and energy, says the house.
A heart of incense and olibanum
The heart rests on only one ingredient: incense, resinous and smoky, for which olibanum is another name. This is the moment when the fragrance tightens and everything else fades away.
A base of patchouli, cedarwood and moss
Patchouli brings its damp and slightly sweet earthiness, cedarwood a distinct dryness and moss a green freshness of the forest floor. The sillage is anchored, calm and very long-lasting.
The house's approach
A pharmacy ingredient elevated to the status of a fragrance. Eucalyptus is a medicinal scent — balm, inhalation, camphor — that fine perfumery carefully avoids because it so strongly evokes medicine. Bohoboco makes it the subject of an entire fragrance and pairs it with patchouli, the earthiest of roots: cold versus warm, clinical versus organic. Another revealing detail of the method: the heart contains only one ingredient, incense, but the house names it twice, using both of its names — incense and olibanum. A way of saying that at this precise moment, there is nothing else.
For whom, for what occasions?
Woody, aromatic and spicy, this eau de parfum is for those who love sharp greens and incense, far from any sweetness. It can be worn all year round, during the day, without distinction of gender.
