Parfumeur | Arturetto Landi
Exoticoud by Jupilò is a woody, fruity, and amber unisex perfume extract. Eight fruits in the top notes, Dahn Al Oud in the base.
A father, suitcases full of bottles
Jupilò is a Roman house founded by Lorenzo Zaccheo — lawyer, professional sommelier, and former boxer. His passion for perfume comes from his father, a lover of fine things and Paris, who returned from trips with suitcases full of bottles: Annick Goutal, Diptyque, L'Artisan Parfumeur, Caron. "And every time, it was Christmas." The child became a collector, then a student of olfactory art, and finally creative director. The house defines itself as a cross between Rome and Paris, with methods borrowed from oenology that his profession as a sommelier explains. Four perfumers sign the catalog: Vanina Muracciole, Arturetto Landi, Christian Carbonnel, and Luca Maffei.
An opening of saffron and eight fruits
The saffron opens on its leathery and metallic facet, the pink pepper on its rosy vivacity. Then come the grapefruit, the passion fruit, the apple, the blackcurrant, the peach, the raspberry, the mango, and the grape — eight fruits in the opening alone.
A heart of lily of the valley, rose, and jasmine
The lily of the valley, the rose, the geranium, and the jasmine form a compact floral heart, only four materials after an opening of ten. It is the narrowest passage of the perfume, and it serves as a hinge.
A base of Dahn Al Oud and Sumatran benzoin
The Dahn Al Oud — agarwood oil — arrives with the Sumatran benzoin, the sandalwood, the patchouli, and the incense. The leather, the vanilla, the musk, and the ambergris complete a base of nine materials, warm and very long-lasting.
The house's signature
Twenty-three materials, and an hourglass architecture. Ten materials in the opening, four in the heart, nine in the base: the composition narrows abruptly in the middle before reopening. The contrast is also geographical — a tropical market start, an oriental perfumery base — and the Dahn Al Oud is not an oud accord but the distilled oil of agarwood, the most expensive form of the material.
For whom, for what occasions?
Woody, fruity, and amber, this extract is for those who love fruity ouds and dense compositions, and want an accessible oud without being sweetened. From autumn to winter, in the evening. It is the most generous in the catalog.
With Exoticoud Jupilò, the formula narrows in the middle before reopening.
