A house born from a neuropsychiatrist

Indices Parfums is one of the very few Belgian perfume brands, based in Brussels. It was born from the meeting of Olga, a doctor in neuropsychiatry and biochemist, and Hubert Alexandre, owner of the Parfum d'Ambre perfumery and co-creator of L'Écrin à Parfums. Olga specialized in the therapeutic use of perfumes — she notably led Le parfum des anges, a project intended to soothe the daily lives of sick children and their families. Each creation is therefore built around a precise emotional effect. The house works collection by collection, with perfumers from different backgrounds, and donates one euro per perfume sold to the NGO Initiative Développement, which supports small ylang-ylang producers in the Comoros.

An opening of citrus and aldehydes

The citrus opens clearly and luminously. The aldehydes extend them with a soapy and sparkling sensation, giving the opening a quality of air and clarity rather than fruit.

A heart of olibanum incense

Olibanum incense occupies the heart alone. It is the resin extracted from trees of the Boswellia genus, harvested by incising the bark: smoky, dry, slightly lemony. Its kinship with the citrus in the top makes the transition almost imperceptible.

A cedar base

The cedar closes the composition, alone. Dry and pencil-like wood, it does not seek to warm but to hold the incense and make it last.

The house's approach

Three materials, one per layer. This is the most direct illustration of the house's project: no bouquet, no complex accord, a single line that goes from the light of the citrus to the smoke of the incense and then to the wood. The perfume does not tell a story, it produces a state — and that is exactly what the title announces.
