A house born from a neuropsychiatrist

Indices Parfums is one of the very few Belgian perfume brands, based in Brussels. It was born from the meeting of Olga, a doctor in neuropsychiatry and biochemist, and Hubert Alexandre, owner of the Parfum d'Ambre perfumery and co-creator of L'Écrin à Parfums. Olga specialized in the therapeutic use of perfumes — she notably led Le parfum des anges, a project intended to soothe the daily lives of sick children and their families. Each creation is therefore built around a precise emotional effect rather than a decorative theme. The house works collection by collection, with perfumers from different backgrounds, and donates one euro per perfume sold to the NGO Initiative Développement, which supports small ylang-ylang producers in the Comoros.

An opening of sage and bay leaf

The sage and the bay leaf open the composition alone. These are two herbs, not two citrus fruits: the opening is green, dry, and calm, without the sparkling brilliance expected from an opening. This is already the desired effect.

A heart of orange blossom and osmanthus

The orange blossom brings its sunny whiteness, the osmanthus its apricot and leather scent — a flower that is both fruity and tea-like, which naturally extends the tea announced by the title.

A base of sandalwood and musks

The Australian sandalwood brings a dry creaminess, more discreet than Indian. The white musks ensure longevity and that clean skin quality that closes the perfume without hardening it.

The house's approach

No citrus hook, and it is deliberate. Almost all perfumes open with a citrus: it gives the brilliance of the first few minutes and facilitates the sale of the bottle. Doing without it to start with two calm herbs means refusing this brilliance, because the intended effect is soothing. This is exactly what Olga's journey has placed at the heart of the house.
