A house born from a neuropsychiatrist

Indices Parfums is one of the very few Belgian perfume brands, based in Brussels. It was born from the meeting of Olga, a doctor in neuropsychiatry and biochemist, and Hubert Alexandre, owner of the Parfum d'Ambre perfumery and co-creator of L'Écrin à Parfums. Olga specialized in the therapeutic use of perfumes — she notably led Le parfum des anges, a project intended to soothe the daily lives of sick children and their families. Each creation is therefore built around a precise emotional effect. The house works collection by collection, with perfumers from different backgrounds, and donates one euro per perfume sold to the NGO Initiative Développement, which supports small ylang-ylang producers in the Comoros.

An opening of two resins

The Peru balsam and the rockrose open the composition. These are two resins, one vanilla and smoky, the other amber and leathery — base materials, placed here at the top, without any citrus to introduce them.

A heart of honey and immortelle

The honey occupies the center, thick and floral. The immortelle — the everlasting flower — answers it with its scent of curry, heated hay, and licorice. It is a harsh, almost medicinal material, which directly contradicts the sweetness of the honey.

A benzoin base

The benzoin closes the composition alone. Its vanilla resin extends the honey and closes the loop with the Peru balsam of the opening.

The house's signature

Immortelle to darken the honey. Honey alone quickly turns to sugar and wax; immortelle, with its curry bitterness, prevents it from becoming cloying and gives it an almost medicinal depth. The other choice is the opening: two heavy resins at the top, while convention calls for a light start. The perfume therefore has no momentum — it settles in from the start.

Amber, floral, and spicy, this eau de parfum is aimed at lovers of honey and immortelle, two materials that divide opinion. From autumn to winter, in the evening. It is the densest of the house.
