A house born from a neuropsychiatrist

Indices Parfums is one of the very few Belgian perfume brands, based in Brussels. It was born from the meeting of Olga, a doctor in neuropsychiatry and biochemist, and Hubert Alexandre, owner of the Parfum d'Ambre perfumery and co-creator of L'Écrin à Parfums. Olga specialized in the therapeutic use of perfumes — she notably led Le parfum des anges, a project intended to soothe the daily lives of sick children and their families. Each creation is therefore built around a precise emotional effect. The house works collection by collection, with perfumers from different backgrounds, and donates one euro per perfume sold to the NGO Initiative Développement, which supports small ylang-ylang producers in the Comoros.

An opening of mints

Mints open the composition — the plural counts, several varieties are used together. Each has its character: the peppery one is cold and camphorous, the green one sweeter and sweeter. Layering them gives a freshness with several levels rather than a single note.

A heart of lily of the valley and green jasmine

Lily of the valley occupies the center, accompanied by green jasmine. Lily of the valley is a flower that cannot be extracted: no process extracts its essence, so that every lily of the valley in perfumery is a reconstruction by the nose that composes it.

An amyris base

Amyris closes the composition alone. This wood from Haiti, sometimes called "Antillean sandalwood", brings a soft creaminess that grounds the flowers without weighing them down.

The house's touch

Four materials, and a flower that does not exist. Since lily of the valley is inextractable, the entire heart of the perfume is an invention. Placing it behind mints — green and slightly metallic, very close to lily of the valley — makes the reconstruction credible: the mints prepare the nose for what the flower is going to say.
