Parfumeur | Toni Cabal
Kolada by Kajal is a fruity, milky, gourmand unisex perfume extract. A piña colada, with flowers in the middle.
Kohl, modesty, and two men from the world of luxury
Kajal Perfumes Paris was founded in 2012 by Moe Khalaf and Ibrahim Faris, and its first fragrance was released in 2014. Both come from the world of luxury: Ibrahim Faris started at nineteen in Jordan before becoming brand manager of the Al Tayer Group in Dubai; Moe Khalaf spent ten years at YSL Beauté, eventually heading the Saudi market, and later served as Middle East regional director at Estée Lauder. The name says it all: kajal refers to kohl in Indian culture and comes from the Arabic word khajal, meaning modesty. The house is based in Dubai, but its fragrances are mainly composed in France.
An opening of pineapple and bergamot
Pineapple opens the composition, sweet and slightly spicy, surrounded by fruity notes. Bergamot provides the citrus that prevents the fruit from immediately turning into syrup.
A heart of violet and lily of the valley
The violet lends its fresh powder, while the lily of the valley provides its green, watery floral note. Only two flowers, but they occupy the entire heart of the fragrance—that is where the cocktail recipe takes a break.
A base of coconut and benzoin
The coconut finally arrives and closes the loop with the pineapple, extended by amber and benzoin, two resins that thicken the milky note without making it any sweeter.
The house's signature touch
A floral heart between the pineapple and the coconut. The name announces the piña colada, and the two ingredients of the cocktail are indeed there—but they are separated. Between the two, the violet and lily of the valley impose a floral breath that no recipe calls for. This is what prevents the fragrance from being merely a drink: the fruit and the milk only meet at the end.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Fruity, milky, and gourmand, this extract is for those who love milky fruity and tropical fragrances and are looking for a coconut that does not smell like sunscreen. From spring to summer, for daytime wear. It is the most summery fragrance in the catalog.
With Kolada Kajal, the two ingredients of the cocktail only meet at the end.
