Last Season by Meo Fusciuni is a green aromatic chypre, unisex fragrance created by Giuseppe Imprezzabile. With its twenty-two ingredients, it is the house's densest formula.

An ethnobotanist turned perfumer

Before composing fragrances, Giuseppe Imprezzabile spent years cataloging the medicinal properties of plants and ran a herbalist shop in his hometown in Sicily. He prefers the old title of aromatario, one who possesses the knowledge of plants. "Meo" is the diminutive of his father's first name, Bartolomeo; "Fusciuni" is his grandfather's nickname, which means to flow in Sicilian. For him, a fragrance does not begin in the laboratory but with a poem, a journey, or a revelation.

An opening of immortelle, galbanum, and Canadian pine

The opening is frankly green and bitter. Galbanum brings its sharp sap, mugwort and bay leaf their aromatic bitterness, Canadian pine its cold resin. Immortelle and chamomile add a note of warm hay and dried flowers. It is, says the house, the arrival on the island of mosses, on an August morning.

A heart of fucus seaweed, hay, and cistus

It is the most unusual heart in the house's catalog. Fucus seaweed brings a marine and iodized note: "everything here is submerged, and like ancestral lunar presences, the marine plants connect us to the water, stretched over the dark rocks of the Baltic". Around it, hay, cistus, labdanum, patchouli, vetiver, tobacco, cedar, guaiac wood, and sandalwood: ten ingredients in the heart alone.

A base of leather, oud, and myrrh

The end is dark and animalic. Leather envelops everything, oud and birch bring the smoke, musk the skin. Myrrh and olibanum close it off with dry resins. The fragrance transforms a lot: it is not a fragrance you judge in ten minutes.

The house's gesture

Last Season was born from a trip to Sweden, "on a warm August morning", on an island covered in mosses where marine plants stretched over the dark rocks of the Baltic. The perfumer addresses a phrase directly to nature there: "I have crossed all the seas to see you, crossed all the forests to speak to you, to smell your scent, Nature". Hence this formula that places earth, water, smoke, and leather side by side, and which the house considers iconic for its character that is at once woody, aromatic, and fresh. It belongs to the Memorie di Viaggio collection.
