A house that changes perfumers with each creation

Nysos is a Parisian house with an unusual compositional approach: it entrusts almost every creation to a different perfumer. Ten fragrances, eight noses — only Olivier Cresp and Benjamin Bélizon each created two — and you will find signatures usually associated with the major houses. Its eaux de parfum are presented in 80 ml bottles, and its extraits in 50 ml bottles.

An opening of freesia, grapefruit, and rhubarb

The opening is green and tart. Freesia reveals its peppery facet, while grapefruit and lemon add a citrusy bitterness, and rhubarb — a rare note in perfumery — adds its vegetal, rosy acidity.

A heart of Indian jasmine, peony, and lily of the valley

Indian jasmine, named for its origin, plays the role promised by the title: fleshy, radiant, and slightly indolic. Peony lightens it, while lily of the valley adds its green transparency. The heart remains clear, never becoming cloying.

A base of muscone and woody notes

The dry-down is subtle and precise. Muscone is the molecule that gives natural musk its characteristic scent — powdery, warm, and very close to the skin — and here it is reproduced synthetically, without animal-derived ingredients. With musk and woody notes, it creates a skin-like effect rather than a trail.

The house's signature

Jasmine is usually expressed through an accumulation of white flowers. Le Jasmin does the opposite: only three flowers, and a vegetal opening led by rhubarb, which cuts through the sweetness before it can settle. And its base lists muscone rather than a vague "white musk," which says a lot about the precision of the formula. It is signed by Olivier Cresp — who joined Firmenich in 1992, has been a master perfumer since 2006, and created Angel by Thierry Mugler — as well as Vanille Divinity, the only two creations he has given to Nysos.
