Parfumeur | Jean-Bernard Albani
Mujāhid by Ralyss Maison des Héritiers is a fruity, woody, leathery perfume extract, unisex, created by Jean-Bernard Albani. Concentrated at 28%, it is only sold in a two-piece set: a 100 ml bottle and a 3 ml perfume oil.
A house born from a trial
Ralyss Maison des Héritiers is a French house founded in 2026, and it claims not to have been born from a marketing plan but from a real moment. The founder tells the story: one morning, hesitating over which perfume to choose, he asked his eldest son, Raïss, to choose for him, and the child pointed to a fragrance of raspberry and rose. A few hours later, his pregnant wife was rushed to the hospital; he applied oud oil while waiting. Their second son, Jalÿss, was born prematurely. The perfume was born from the meeting of these two scents—the one the child had chosen and the one of the wait. The house drew its formula from it: the most precious heritage is not what we possess, but what we pass on. The composition was entrusted to Jean-Bernard Albani, an independent perfumer chosen, it says, to work without industrial compromise.
An opening of raspberry, blackcurrant, and rose
The raspberry opens the perfume, deep and vibrant rather than jammy. The blackcurrant adds its green acidity, slightly tart, and the rose its petal. These are exactly the materials the child had pointed out that morning: the perfume begins with the beginning of the story.
A heart of raspberry, vanilla, and saffron
The raspberry returns to the center, this time softened by the vanilla, while the saffron cuts through it with its metallic and slightly leathery brilliance. The house describes this passage as addictive, almost magnetic, and specifies that the rose takes the form of an intense and majestic Taif rose.
A base of oud, amber, cistus, and leather
“Then comes the shadow,” the house writes. The oud—which it specifies as Cambodian—brings its woody and animalic depth; the leather its nobility; the cistus, or labdanum, its balsamic warmth; the amber its resinous sweetness. Its text also names, in this movement, the dark earth of cypriol and the strength of vetiver, and then, at the very end, the tonka bean, the cedar, and the patchouli. As a 28% extract, this base lasts a long time and draws closer to the skin over the hours.
A two-piece set
Mujāhid is not sold as a single bottle. The set brings together the 100 ml perfume extract and a 3 ml perfume oil, in the same composition. The oil is worn in the hollow of the wrist or behind the ear: alcohol-free, it lasts longer, diffuses less far, and slips in everywhere. The two formats complement each other—the spray for the trail, the oil for the day and touch-ups.
The house's gesture
The perfume follows a path that the house states in one sentence: the passage from light to darkness, then from darkness to survival. Each material has a role assigned to it—the rose for tenderness and life, the raspberry for light after darkness, the oud for strength, resilience, and heritage. The set extends the same idea: it is not packaging but an object of heritage, dressed in a hand-painted canvas inspired by Oman, where every detail carries a part of the story.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who love dark fruitiness and unapologetic ouds. It is an autumn and winter perfume, rather for the evening, with a strong longevity and sillage—two sprays are enough. Mujāhid Ralyss will appeal to those seeking an adult raspberry, held by saffron and leather.
