Parfumeur | Maebh McCurtin
Nasaj by Oman Luxury is a floral woody citrus eau de parfum, unisex, created by Maebh McCurtin. Six fruits in the top, six white flowers in the heart, eight materials in the base.
An Omani house that calls upon master noses
Oman Luxury is an independent house founded in 2012 by Muatasim, Muadh and Ahmed, then relaunched in October 2020 with a new identity. Its approach is twofold: drawing from Omani heritage — the incense route, spices, agarwood — and entrusting the formulas to leading French perfumers, among them Dominique Ropion, Marie Salamagne, Pierre Negrin, Maurice Roucel or Emilie Coppermann. One of the three founders, Muatasim Al Hinai, composes two of the collection's fragrances himself. The bottles incorporate motifs from Omani architecture and textiles.
An opening of mandarin, tangerine, pear and grapefruit
Four fruits, including two similar citrus fruits: mandarin for its sweet roundness, tangerine for a more pronounced tartness. Pear brings its juicy flesh, grapefruit its bitterness. Pink pepper and cardamom prevent the composition from dissipating too quickly.
A heart of jasmine, tuberose, gardenia and magnolia
Six white flowers in a single, continuous bouquet. Jasmine and tuberose provide power and indole, gardenia its creamy side, magnolia a lemony freshness, lily its powdery whiteness and neroli its green bitterness. It is the most generous bouquet in the catalog.
A base of Saffiano leather, benzoin and Omani olibanum
Saffiano leather — named after the cross-hatched grain of Italian calfskin — brings smooth skin, benzoin its sweet, vanilla-like resin, sandalwood its milky creaminess. Omani olibanum, which the house expressly names, provides its dry gum; cypriol essential oil its smoky earthiness, tonka bean and patchouli depth, ambroxan a mineral and diffusive roundness. Eight materials: the base is the most densely layered level of the fragrance.
The house's signature
Nasaj means weaving in Arabic, and the house dedicates the fragrance to Omani embroidery — to the floral motifs, it says, woven into the country's culture. The formula reflects this logic: six fruits in the top for lightness, six white flowers in the heart for the pattern, eight materials in the base for the canvas that carries them. And on this canvas, Saffiano leather — named after a leather grain — and Omani olibanum sit alongside ambroxan, a synthetic molecule: a material of heritage and a material of the laboratory on the same level.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who love large bouquets of white flowers and seek a woody base to support them. It is a spring and summer fragrance, wearable day or night, with long-lasting wear and a wide trail. Nasaj Oman Luxury will appeal to those who want a generous yet structured floral.
