Elixirs conceived as raw materials

NÛR is a French artisanal haute parfumerie house that has made a name for itself with its alcohol-free elixirs: ultra-concentrated oils presented in 3 ml, conceived as raw materials rather than compositions — deep vanillas, milky sandalwood, resinous ambers, vibrant roses, musks, dark ouds. The name of an elixir announces its raw material, and often its origin. Its co-founder Jean-Bernard Albani, a self-taught perfumer, states that each maceration is crafted by hand. The extraits extend the collection: the same olfactory facets, but with an alcohol base that provides superior projection, a denser and longer-lasting trail.

The raw materials

Everything starts with the Brazilian tonka bean, the signature material of the composition. Naturally rich in coumarin, it carries that scent of almond, cut hay, and blonde tobacco that nothing else can replace in perfumery.

Around it, there are only two facets: a smoky facet, which the house announces as more pronounced here than in the elixir of the same name, and a cacao facet that draws the tonka towards roasted grain rather than pastry. The composition is built on this single material and its extensions, and that is its strength: nothing distracts from the tonka.

The house's approach

This extrait was born from the Tonka 75 elixir from the Lumière range, which we also distribute in 3 ml. NÛR does not buy its tonka absolute: the bean is ground, then macerated for three months, and it is from this house-made absolute that the extrait is then composed. It is this long time that explains the density of the juice and its roasted dominance.

Gourmand, smoky, and woody, this extrait is for those who love dry gourmands — tonka, tobacco, bitter cacao — and who avoid sweetness. Its concentration makes it a evening and cold-weather fragrance, where the roasted facet unfolds best, and its 30 ml format slips into travel.
