A house that names its fragrances after their ingredients

Bohoboco is a Polish house based in Warsaw. It was founded in 2009 as a fashion brand by designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. A first fragrance was released in 2012, before the collection was launched in 2016 — a project in which Lach, having worked in hairdressing, makeup and then fashion design, says he found his true calling. The house's signature lies in its naming convention: each fragrance is simply named after two or three of its ingredients, without a story or character. Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Wild Carrot Oud — and even provocatively with Magic Mushrooms or Polish Potatoes. The first compositions were created in Grasse, and the house has been awarded by the Fragrance Foundation UK, Vogue Beauty and Elle Style. Everything is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum, unisex.

An opening of lime, coconut and neroli

Lime opens with a zesty, clean note, coconut adds an unexpected tropical creaminess, and neroli — bitter orange blossom — brings its floral freshness. A clear and luminous start.

A heart of gardenia, olibanum and cistus

Gardenia opens, creamy and expressive, immediately cut through by resinous olibanum. Cistus — labdanum — brings its leathery and honeyed facet. The white flower and the resin, face to face.

The house's approach

A resin treated like a childhood memory. Michał Gilbert Lach composed this fragrance in honour of his grandmother, and olibanum is not merely a decorative ingredient: it is a scent of memory, which the house treats as such. It is the only ingredient to appear twice in the fragrance pyramid, in the heart and then in the base, like a presence that never leaves. Around it, gardenia and coconut bring the sweetness that prevents the resin from dominating on its own.
