Orange X Santal by Essential Parfums is a niche eau de parfum that is citrusy, woody, and aromatic, and unisex, created by Nathalie Gracia-Cetto. It contains only six ingredients.

The perfumer takes center stage

Essential Parfums is a Paris-based house founded in 2018 by Géraldine Archambault, which turns conventional logic on its head: the perfumer's name is on the bottle, and the creation takes precedence over the packaging. Its philosophy can be summed up in one sentence: "simplicity as the ultimate luxury". The house gives every perfumer the same brief: create a unisex fragrance centered around an inspiring natural raw material, with complete creative freedom. Ten perfumers have responded, including Calice Becker, Anne Flipo, Olivier Pescheux, Nathalie Lorson, Quentin Bisch and Nathalie Gracia-Cetto. By limiting packaging and marketing expenses, the house reinvests in the raw materials: its formulas contain between 86 and 93% ingredients of natural origin and are vegan. Refillable 100 ml bottle.

Six ingredients, five named origins. Italian bigarade, Egyptian basil, French cypress, Australian sandalwood, French oakmoss: each line of the fragrance pyramid indicates where what you smell comes from, something very few houses publish. And it is the sandalwood, a creamy wood paired with oakmoss, that gives a citrus fragrance a longevity that colognes never have: the freshness does not evaporate in an hour.
