A house born in an anthill

SANTI BURGAS presents itself as “an avant-garde, alternative niche perfume brand, born in the heart of the Mediterranean in 2008.” The formulas are created in Torroella de Montgrí, in Empordà, in a former building where the region’s rice was dried—now a workshop the house calls its “ant colony.” The letters A, N, and T are “at the heart of the brand’s name (S-ANT-I),” and the ant is its symbol and logo. Its founder, Santiago Burgas Bou, trained “under the tutelage of master perfumers Rosendo Mateu, Chris Maurice, and Rodrigo Flores-Roux.”

Eau Dadà (spicy woody, co-created with Rosendo Mateu), Egnaro (oriental citrus), Flaming Red (floral woody), Miss Betty Vair (musky chypre), Ôikb (powdery woody), Oud de Burgas (spicy woody, featuring three ouds), and Verdant Delirivm (fresh citrus).

From the freshest to the darkest: three citrus fruits and two vanillas, a Bulgarian rose and a Tuscan iris root, a full chypre with oakmoss, an African stone, and three agarwoods from three different terroirs. Seven fragrances, seven distinct families.

The house’s signature touch

Almost every ingredient bears its terroir: Spanish saffron, Indonesian patchouli, Trai Pratchin oud, Valencia orange, Grasse lavender, Brazilian tonka bean, Javanese vetiver, and Madagascar cloves. The house even publishes a full page detailing each ingredient along with its country of origin and the part of the plant used. This is the most traceable writing in the catalog, and the set is the only way to experience it in one go.
