The first Australian perfume house

Goldfield & Banks was founded in Sydney in 2016 by Dimitri Weber, a French-Belgian who settled in Australia after a long career in the European perfume industry. Upon his arrival, he was looking for an Australian fine perfume house but found none: so he created the first. The name pays tribute to Joseph Banks, the botanist who accompanied James Cook to Botany Bay in 1770 and introduced eucalyptus, acacia and banksia to Europe — the latter genus bears his name. The house combines rare Australian botanicals with the French perfume-making methodology, and its creations have been unisex from day one.

Why start here

This house works with materials that no one else uses, and there are no references to help you imagine them. Quandong, boronia, kunzea, finger lime, coastal moss, blue cypress: these are names that mean nothing until you have smelled them. The set is therefore more than a sampling — it is the only way to get an idea.

What it allows you to compare

The collection ranges from mineral marine to smoky woody, from gourmand fruity to aromatic cologne. The set also allows you to smell three species of sandalwood side by side — Australian, Indian and South Pacific — which the house carefully distinguishes.
