Parfumeur | Marc-Antoine Corticchiato
Immortelle Corse by Parfum d'Empire is a spicy aromatic woody fragrance, unisex, created by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato. Its entire top is chosen based on an unexpected criterion: color.
A perfumer's house, and a return to Corsica
Parfum d'Empire is a French house founded and composed by a single man, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato: he is both its founder and nose, and signs the entire catalog. Its formula can be summed up in one sentence — perfume is a quest, perfume is an exploration — and the house claims a return to the primary meaning of perfume, that of seduction and spirituality. The catalog is divided into two: the Signature Collection and the l'Héritage Corse Collection, which brings the house back to the perfumer's island of origin, from the seaside to the maquis and the mountains. The bottles in this collection feature a stylized Genoese tower, like those that have dotted the Corsican coasts since the Renaissance.
An opening of saffron, apricot, and lemon
Saffron brings its leathery and slightly metallic facet, apricot its sweet and velvety flesh, lemon its acidic zest. Three ingredients that have an unexpected common point: they are all flame-colored, like the flower they announce.
A heart of Corsican immortelle
A single ingredient occupies the entire central passage. Corsican immortelle — the bright yellow flower of the maquis, so named because it does not fade — unfolds its three facets: spicy, fruity, and liqueur-like, between curry, hay, and cooked wine. It is a difficult ingredient, which few houses dare to use alone.
A base of oakmoss and woody notes
Oakmoss brings what the house calls a salty earth, which contrasts with woody notes and earthy notes. The base grounds the immortelle and prevents it from turning into a syrup.
The house's approach
The perfumer chose the ingredients that surround the immortelle by their color, not by their scent: saffron, apricot, and lemon are yellow and orange like the flower itself. It is a rare composition strategy, and it produces a coherent result — the three ingredients indeed share, each in its own way, that sunny, spicy, and slightly preserved side that is that of the immortelle.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who love immortelle and want to hear it in the foreground, without vanilla to soften it. It is an autumn and winter fragrance, wearable by day or night, with long-lasting wear and a marked sillage. Immortelle Corse Parfum d'Empire will appeal to those who love difficult ingredients.
