Parfumeur | Quentin Bisch
Patchouli & Cèdre de Tweed by pH fragrances is a musky oriental woody eau de parfum, unisex, created by Quentin Bisch (Givaudan). It has a concentration of 21% — the highest of the house — and is 89% natural.
A Grasse house that gives each perfume the name of a fabric
pH fragrances was founded in 2018 by Camille Le Feuvre, and claims to be a pioneer of a new generation of "niche and sustainable" scented products. It is made in France, in the tradition of Grasse, and employs more than a hundred people in creation and manufacturing. Its defining feature can be summed up in one image: each perfume bears the name of a fabric — Silk, Cashmere, Denim, Tweed, Pashmina, Liberty, Leather. Its commitments are backed by figures: more than a hundred controversial ingredients excluded, going beyond what is required by European regulations, natural formulas of 84 to 93%, vegan and biodegradable, and materials sourced from Givaudan's Orpur® program. The house summarizes its ambition in one formula: the grand cru of natural and sustainable perfumery at affordable prices.
An opening of Indonesian patchouli and grapefruit
Orpur® Indonesian patchouli is there from the very first second, which is rare: it is usually reserved for the base. It opens earthy, camphorous and dark. Grapefruit brightens it with a bitter and sparkling zest — it is the only citrus in the formula, and it does not last.
A heart of cashmeran and Atlas cedar from Morocco
Cashmeran brings a warm and powdery musky woodiness, the very name of which evokes the fabric in the title. Orpur® Atlas cedar from Morocco answers it with a dry, pencil-like and resinous wood. The heart is the softest part of the perfume, between two moments of patchouli.
A base of Indonesian patchouli and musk
Orpur® Indonesian patchouli returns in the base, exactly the same as at the opening, and musk softens it with a skin-like effect. The perfume therefore closes on the material with which it had begun.
The house's signature touch
The peculiarity of this formula can be summed up in one line: patchouli is in both the top and the base, and it is the same material — Indonesian patchouli from the Orpur® program. It frames the entire perfume and leaves only the heart free, where cashmeran and cedar reside. The signature is that of Quentin Bisch, one of the most sought-after perfumers of his generation, and it is also the house's highest concentration, at 21%.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who love patchouli and want it bold, without drowning it in sweetness. It is an autumn and winter perfume, wearable from day to night, with long-lasting wear and a marked sillage. Patchouli & Cèdre de Tweed by pH fragrances will appeal to those looking for a warm and earthy woodiness. Available in 50 and 100 ml.
