Plum Spray Paint by Bohoboco is a fruity, spicy, leathery niche eau de parfum, unisex, created by Michał Gilbert Lach. The name says it all: it really does smell like spray paint.
A house that names its fragrances after their ingredients
Bohoboco is a Polish house based in Warsaw. It was founded in 2009 as a fashion brand by designers Michał Gilbert Lach and Kamil Owczarek. A first fragrance was released in 2012, before the perfume collection was launched in 2016 — a project in which Lach, having worked in hairdressing and makeup before moving into fashion design, says he found his true calling. The house's signature lies in its naming convention: each fragrance is simply named after two or three of its ingredients, without a story or character. Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Wild Carrot Oud — and even provocative names like Magic Mushrooms or Polish Potatoes. The first compositions were created in Grasse, and the house has been awarded by the Fragrance Foundation UK, Vogue Beauty, and Elle Style. Everything is available as a 50 ml eau de parfum, unisex.
An opening of plum, pink pepper, and spray paint
The plum opens fleshy and juicy, softened by pink pepper. Then comes the spray paint accord — metallic, hypnotic, literally provocative — warmed by cinnamon. A spark of rebellion, says the house.
A heart of saffron, magnolia, red fruits, and jasmine
Saffron weaves through the red fruits, majestic magnolia, and radiant jasmine. Rum adds its intoxicating depth. It is elegance placed at the very heart of the tension.
A base of cistus, whisky, leather, and smoke
Balsamic and resinous cistus blends with earthy patchouli and leather. Smoke and whisky create a dark aura. The trail is dense, textured, and long-lasting.
The house's approach
The scent of graffiti treated as a noble ingredient. The spray paint accord — cold, metallic, synthetic — has no place in fine perfumery, yet the house makes it its opening note. The theme is explicit: this fragrance is designed as a homage to freedom of expression, evoking a night in an underground art gallery where the scent of ripe fruit meets that of fresh paint. It transforms, says the house, an emotion into a gesture and a memory into an ingredient. Note: it forms a duo with Mango Yuzu Gasoline, the house's other new release, which is also built around an urban industrial scent — fuel there, paint here.
For whom, and for what occasions?
Fruity, spicy, and leathery, this eau de parfum is for those who want to be noticed and are not afraid of metallic notes. It can be worn in any season and for evening occasions, regardless of gender.
With Plum Spray Paint Bohoboco, Michał Gilbert Lach presents one of the house's two latest creations.
