Red Redemption by OJAR is a floral, citrusy, chypre eau de parfum, unisex, created by Jordi Fernández. It is one of the two chypres we distribute from this house, and the only one built around a flower.

A house born from Dhofar frankincense

OJAR is an Omani house founded by Sheikha Hind Bahwan. The name comes from HOJARI, the most renowned quality of olibanum in the world, harvested in the mountains of Dhofar. The founder summarizes her project in one sentence: “OJAR is a fusion of East and West — I have brought together the best know-how from each region”. The catalog is organized into six collections by material, three of which come from Oman — Dhofar frankincense, Jebel Akhdar rose, and Rustaq honey — complemented by sandalwood, musk, and oud. The formulas are entrusted to perfumers from around the world: Dalia Izem, Gaël Montero, Jordi Fernández, Michel Girard, Nanako Ogi.

An opening of pink pepper and blood orange

Blood orange gives a red citrus, thicker and less acidic than an ordinary orange, with a jammy hint. Pink pepper adds its sparkling resinous quality. Only two materials, and it is the only opening from the house built on a red citrus.

A heart of rose, white amber, vetiver, and patchouli

Rose — one of the house's six founding materials — is surrounded by three dark materials: white amber and its cottony warmth, vetiver and its smoky root, patchouli and its earth. This is where the chypre structure takes shape, beneath the flower rather than around it.

A base of oakmoss, vanilla, and white musk

Oakmoss brings the green and slightly bitter humus that defines a chypre. Vanilla softens it, white musk establishes the skin effect and longevity. The contrast is what makes the perfume modern: an ancient base placed beneath light materials.

The house's approach

The chypre historically rests on oakmoss, a lichen whose use is now strictly limited by regulations for allergy reasons. Many houses have abandoned the family or recreate it synthetically. OJAR keeps it, but builds it contrary to tradition: instead of the bergamot-labdanum duo, it places a blood orange and an Omani rose, and softens the finish with vanilla. The house, which places this perfume in its Rose collection, presents it as the elegance of the rose with its fire.
