The scent of 430 King's Road

ROOM 1015 was founded in Paris in 2015 by Michael Partouche, known as "Dr. Mike": a doctor of pharmacy and rock guitarist, he left the pharmacy for perfume. The house takes its name from room 1015 of the Continental Hyatt House on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles — the hotel nicknamed the "Riot House". Cherry Punk, released in 2020, tells another address: Vivienne Westwood's SEX boutique, at 430 King's Road in London, where bleached-haired youth exchanged rare vinyl records. "Did punk invent fashion, or did fashion invent punk?" asks the house. The movement had its press, its films, its poetry: it lacked its perfume.

An opening of cherry, saffron and black pepper

The cherry arrives in one go, juicy and tart, almost candied. The saffron immediately cuts through it with a leathery and slightly medicinal touch that prevents it from turning into candy, and the black pepper adds a dry bite. Gourmand, but with a knife in its pocket.

A heart of mimosa, jasmine and violet

The mimosa opens the bouquet on a powdery and honeyed note. The jasmine gives it its white flesh and indolent side, the violet a powdery and slightly metallic sweetness. Three flowers that soften without disarming: the composition breathes and becomes more intimate.

A base of leather, patchouli and tonka bean

The leather tips everything into the shadows, supple and patinated. The patchouli anchors it in a damp and camphoric earth, the tonka bean rounds it off with an almond and cut hay sweetness. The house summarizes the scent of an image: "the idealism of adolescence wrapped in a leather jacket".

The house's touch

Saffron is the hinge of the formula. Placed at the top alongside the cherry, it already announces the leather of the base: the perfume contains its own end from the first second. It is this shortcut between the fruit and tanned skin that has made Cherry Punk the house's most recognizable creation, to the point of also existing as an extrait.
