Electric Wood Extrait de Parfum by ROOM 1015 is a vanilla chypre-woody extrait, unisex, created by Jérôme Di Marino. The extrait reissue of the house's very first fragrance, for its tenth anniversary.

The first riff, ten years later

In 2015, Michael Partouche — a doctor of pharmacy turned rock guitarist — founded ROOM 1015 in Paris and gave his house the number of a hotel room: 1015 at the Continental Hyatt House on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, nicknamed the "Riot House". Electric Wood was his very first creation, born from his first guitar: lacquered wood, metal and the synthetic lining of an open case. "Electric Wood was our first riff. Ten years later, we turn up the volume," the house announces in 2025 for this extrait version, which it describes as "a guitar that catches fire in the middle of a solo."

An opening of nutmeg, cardamom and saffron

Three spices, no freshness. The nutmeg opens warm and woody, almost dusty. The cardamom brings a green and camphoraceous liveliness, the saffron a leathery and slightly metallic touch. The opening crackles instead of refreshing: nothing here seeks to gently seduce.

A heart of oakmoss, iris and myrrh

The oakmoss establishes an undergrowth dampness, green and bitter, which gives the composition its chypre depth. The iris is a powder of a cold and root-like texture. The myrrh adds a dry resin, a bit balsamic and medicinal. This is where the fragrance ceases to be an effect and becomes a landscape.

A base of vanilla, cedar, nagarmotha and vetiver

The vanilla rounds out without completely softening. The cedar brings its pencil-like dryness, the nagarmotha a very recognizable leathery and earthy smoke, the vetiver a green and mineral root. The longevity is that of an extrait: long, dense, still present on the clothing the next day.

The house's touch

The oakmoss is placed in the heart, and not in the base as in a classic chypre. It therefore arrives earlier and fades faster, leaving the final word to the woods and the vanilla: the fragrance has the structure of a chypre but the finish of a woody. It is this displacement of a single material that explains why it never smells old.
