Hollyrose by ROOM 1015 is a floral leathery woody eau de parfum, unisex, created by Jérôme Epinette. A black rose mounted on leather and patchouli, dedicated to the women who ruled Sunset Boulevard in the 70s.

ROOM 1015 was founded in Paris in 2015 by Michael Partouche, known as "Dr. Mike": a doctor of pharmacy and rock guitarist, he left the pharmacy for perfume. The house, located on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, takes its name from room 1015 of the Continental Hyatt House, on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles — the hotel nicknamed the "Riot House", a haunt for 60s and 70s rock bands. Hollyrose, released in 2017, pays tribute to Anita Pallenberg, Bebe Buell and Pamela Des Barres, these muses of the Los Angeles scene who, according to the house, brought the most powerful men in rock'n'roll to their knees.

An opening of blackcurrant and black pepper

The opening consists of two materials that are nothing alike. The blackcurrant brings a green acidity, almost budding, that stings the nose. The black pepper responds with a dry, spicy and warm sensation. No transition, no politeness: you understand in three seconds that this will not be a comfortable floral.

A heart of rose and orchid

The rose occupies all the space, ample and fleshy rather than delicate. The orchid doubles it with a rarer facet, slightly poisonous and a bit vanilla, which prevents it from tipping into romanticism. It is a floral that has flesh, not petals.

A base of leather and patchouli

The leather establishes a dark and supple material, tanned, which takes the rose by its lapels. The patchouli sinks it with an earthy and slightly camphorous depth. The contrast with the heart is brutal, and that is exactly the intention: the flower and the leather jacket in the same bottle.

The house's approach

Six materials, not one more. Hollyrose is built on three duos that oppose each other two by two: the acidic against the spicy, the familiar flower against the rare flower, the leather against the earth. This economy distinguishes Hollyrose from the rest of the collection, where the pyramids willingly count eight to ten materials: here, we have subtracted instead of piling up.

For anyone looking for a floral that does not apologize. It wears particularly well in the evening, in mid-season and in winter. It can be worn regardless on masculine or feminine skin: the entire ROOM 1015 collection is vegan, cruelty-free and unisex.
