Poppy Riot by ROOM 1015 is a floral woody fruity eau de parfum, unisex, created by Jérôme Di Marino. A saffron poppy resting on tobacco and tonka bean.

“It's not a perfume, it's a movement in a bottle”

ROOM 1015 was founded in Paris in 2015 by Michael Partouche, known as “Dr. Mike”: a doctor of pharmacy and rock guitarist, he left the pharmacy for perfume. The house takes its name from room 1015 of the Continental Hyatt House on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles — the hotel nicknamed the “Riot House”. Poppy Riot, released in 2026, draws from punk, grunge, hip-hop and early video game consoles. The house presents it as “the perfume of a new generation (…) for the impatient, the bold, those who are effortlessly cool”, beating “the raw energy of an era defined by style, sound, attitude and constantly evolving beauty codes.”

An opening of blood orange, mandarin and plum

The blood orange opens tart and slightly bitter, darker than an ordinary orange. The mandarin softens it with a sweet zest, the plum brings a candied flesh and a slightly winey touch. The whole is tense, never cloyingly sweet.

A heart of poppy, davana and saffron

The poppy is the signature: a red floral accord, light and almost papery. The davana, an Indian plant with the scent of alcoholic apricot, thickens it with a fruity gourmand touch. The saffron adds its leathery trait and its slightly milky roundness. It is this creamy texture that gives the perfume its character — but here it remains restrained, never cloying.

A base of tonka bean, wood, tobacco and musk

The tonka bean brings almond and cut hay, the tobacco a smoky and honeyed dryness, the woods the dry structure, the musk the envelope that brings everything close to the skin. The transition with the heart is clean, and it is the best moment of the perfume.

The house's approach

Poppy smells almost nothing in nature: its flower has no usable scent and can neither be distilled nor extracted. It therefore only exists in perfumery as a reconstruction, accord by accord. Holding it as the heart note of an entire composition is a perfumer's gamble, not an easy feat — and that is precisely what the name of the perfume highlights.
