Parfumeur | Jérôme Di Marino
Wasabi Klub by ROOM 1015 is a unisex spicy woody citrus eau de parfum, created by Jérôme Di Marino. Three citrus fruits, wasabi and two peppers, set on a mineral base.
The energy of bodies in motion
ROOM 1015 was founded in Paris in 2015 by Michael Partouche, known as "Dr. Mike": a doctor of pharmacy and rock guitarist, he left the pharmacy for perfume. The house takes its name from room 1015 of the Continental Hyatt House on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles — the hotel nicknamed the "Riot House". Wasabi Klub, released in 2026, is described as "the fragrance of movement, impact and self-assertion". Inspired "by the codes of street culture and the raw energy of breakdancing", it seeks to capture "the energy of bodies in motion, fully expressing themselves". Dr. Mike summarizes it as follows: "An instant burst of energy and joy. Something vibrant, stimulating, alive."
An opening of yuzu, grapefruit and lemon
The yuzu opens green and floral, more complex than a simple zest. The grapefruit brings its juicy bitterness, the lemon its frank and clear acidity. Three citrus fruits without the slightest roundness: it's a jolt, not a caress.
A heart of wasabi, black pepper and Timut pepper
The wasabi is the boldness of the composition: spicy, vegetal, with that rise that pinches the nose rather than the tongue. The black pepper opposes it with a dry and woody heat. The Timut pepper, a Nepalese berry, barely stings: it smells like grapefruit and leaves a slight tingling. A little unsettling for the first few minutes, frankly addictive afterwards.
A base of orcanox, concrete and amber woods
The orcanox, an amber molecule, holds the whole together with a dry and diffuse heat. The concrete accord brings exactly what its name announces: a mineral, dusty, almost cold material. The amber woods warm everything up. This contrast between cold and hot gives the perfume its longevity and its resolutely contemporary character.
The house's touch
Two peppers in the heart, and they don't do the same job. Black pepper heats and dries. Timut pepper, on the other hand, is a fake pepper: its berry smells like citrus and therefore extends the top instead of spicing it. The heart thus restarts the opening while the wasabi shakes it up — this is what prevents the perfume from falling back after five minutes, a usual flaw of citrus compositions.
For whom, for what occasions?
For those who want a fresh fragrance that looks like no other. The house describes it as a moderate sillage, wearable all year round, day or night — it gives its best in spring and summer, in the city. The entire ROOM 1015 collection is vegan, cruelty-free and unisex.
