Rose Graffiti by Les Bains Guerbois is a floral, fruity, and musky unisex eau de parfum, created by Jean-Claude Ellena. Five ingredients, two roses, and nothing superfluous.

A single address, one hundred and forty years of history

It all began at 7 rue du Bourg-l'Abbé in Paris. In 1885, Auguste Guerbois and his son Albert opened the capital's most luxurious private bathhouse, frequented by Manet, Monet, Renoir, Zola, and Proust. In 1978, the venue became Les Bains Douches, the Parisian equivalent of Studio 54. In 2015, Jean-Pierre Marois, the heir to the venue, transformed it into a five-star hotel, then revived the perfume house in 2016. The catalog follows two lines: "A Date, a Story" (2018), where each perfume corresponds to a year in the venue's history, and "Forms & Materials" (2022), an exploration of the building itself. Rose Graffiti is the fourth opus in this collection.

An opening of mandarin and passion fruit

Mandarin opens with a round, sweet citrus note, while passion fruit brings its tropical, slightly sulfurous acidity. Two ingredients, and the opening is perfectly balanced.

A heart of Centifolia and Damascena roses

Centifolia rose — the May rose, honeyed and powdery — and Damascena rose — spicier and more vibrant — together form the heart. Two varieties, two characters, a single flower.

A musk base

A rare musk closes the composition, alone, slightly woody. It does not add another ingredient but provides longevity, allowing the two roses to occupy the entire space until the very end.

The house's signature approach

The perfume comes from a wall. The Bains' courtyard still features a mural painted in 1981 by a pioneer of New York graffiti, which Jean-Pierre Marois preserved when he took over the venue. Jean-Claude Ellena — former exclusive perfumer for Hermès — came to visit the place: the team had an idea to present to him, but it was the mural that immediately captivated him. He composed it synesthetically, translating colors and movements rather than starting from a list of ingredients. The result consists of five ingredients: it is Ellena's entire signature, built on subtraction.
