A childhood in the Cognac warehouses

Kilian Paris was founded in 2007 by Kilian Hennessy, a direct descendant of Richard Hennessy, who founded the cognac house in 1765. He grew up among the oak barrels in the family warehouses — so the scents of alcohol are not a marketing theme but a childhood memory. Before launching his brand, he dedicates his 1995 master's thesis to the semantics of scents, trains under Jacques Cavallier and Thierry Wasser, and then works for Dior, Armani, Paco Rabanne, and Alexander McQueen. The catalog is organized into five fragrance families: The Liquors, The Narcotics, The Cellars, The Fresh, and The Smokes. This fragrance belongs to The Liquors.

A cucumber opening

Cucumber opens the composition alone, with an aquatic freshness that is almost thirst-quenching. It is what creates the icy sensation that gives the fragrance its name.

A heart of juniper berries and rose

Juniper berries — the ingredient that gives gin its flavor — provide an aromatic, resinous note. Centifolia rose, also known as May rose, softens them: it is not presented as a powdery bouquet but as a fresh petal, as if infused in alcohol.

Rather than simply adding a "gin" note, Frank Voelkl recreated what you taste in the glass: the juniper of the alcohol, the rose, and the cucumber infused within. The fragrance does not name the cocktail; it rebuilds it ingredient by ingredient.
