Royal Incense by Oman Luxury is an amber, resinous, leathery eau de parfum, unisex, created by Philippine Courtière. Its pyramid is inverted: a single note at the top, seven at the base.

An Omani house that calls upon master perfumers

Oman Luxury is an independent house founded in 2012 by Muatasim, Muadh and Ahmed, then relaunched in October 2020 with a new identity. Its approach is twofold: draw from Omani heritage — the incense route, spices, agarwood — and entrust the formulas to leading French perfumers, among whom Dominique Ropion, Marie Salamagne, Pierre Negrin, Maurice Roucel or Emilie Coppermann. One of the three founders, Muatasim Al Hinai, composes two of the fragrances in the collection himself. The bottles incorporate motifs from Omani architecture and textiles.

An opening of pink pepper

One note, and nothing else. Pink pepper provides a fruity, sparkling, and slightly resinous opening, which the house itself describes as a bold presence. The fragrance does not seek to seduce with its opening: it delivers it.

A heart of lily and geranium

Two flowers for the entire transition. Lily brings its powdery whiteness and a touch of pepper; geranium its green and rosy facet, slightly metallic. They serve less as a bouquet than as a quick passage to the base.

A base of frankincense, honey, leather and vetiver

The entire weight of the fragrance is here. Frankincense brings its dry and peppery resin, honey a thick and slightly animalic sweetness, leather its tanned skin. Cedarwood, vetiver, amber and musk complete a base of seven notes.

The house's approach

A classic pyramid widens towards the top: many volatile notes at the top, few heavy notes at the base. Royal Incense does the opposite — one, two, then seven — and the fragrance therefore settles in place instead of unfolding. This is consistent with its subject: the house presents it as an inspiration from pure Omani frankincense, and the incense burned in Oman has no opening phase — it fills the room all at once and stays there.
