The perfumer's story

Stéphanie de Bruijn publishes a signed text for each of her creations, which she calls "The Story". For Royal Secret: "Royal Secret is a secret whispered behind the doors of a palace." She says she combined licorice and iris, then incense and amber, to achieve something refined and powdery.

An opening of bergamot and cherry

The opening combines bergamot with cherry. Only two ingredients, and an immediate contrast between the bitter citrus and the dark fruit.

A heart of tonka bean and iris

The heart contrasts the tonka bean, with hay and almond notes, with the powdery iris root. It is iris that the perfumer herself designates as the subject of the perfume.

A base of sandalwood, ambergris and white musk

The base combines creamy sandalwood, ambergris and white musk. Seven ingredients in total: the trail remains discreet and unfolds slowly, which the house claims.

The house's approach

Stéphanie de Bruijn grew up in the Grasse region and studied biology before becoming an artisan perfumer. In 2001, she won the ISIPCA International Young Perfumer Competition. The heart of her house remains bespoke perfume: two appointments, one month of research, and a blend kept in the workshop to be reproduced identically.
